If I were you, I would file a report to the Better Business Bureau and since they defrauded you out of your money, you should call the police department and file a fraud complaint.
The guy that took your money may not even work for a building company. His profession may be fraud. It happens all the time. Always call the Better Business Bureau for a report on a company and call their references before you give them any money. If they are a member in good standing with the BBB and their references check out, they are probably OK.
One more thing:
If you paid him with a visa or mastercard credit card you can reverse the charge and the card company will take the money back out of his back account. Visa and Mastercard guarantee that their merchants will deliver or your money back.
Since the above company was listed in San Antonio, I ran a search in Texas for Able and here are the results:=&city_zip=&state_id=TX&localtime=survey
May not be the same guy, but there is a chance. The person listed might be his father, son or grandfather with the same name.
