Potato Chip Floor Treatment?

Lauren728 asked:

I saw a “do-it-yourself” type home improvement show that featured a unique floor treatment. Unfortunately, I only remember a few details. I remember that it was a kitchen floor, and that it was painted cement (or something like it). Along the outside, the created a border with a different color paint, and then spread potato chips over it. They used something something which reacted with with oils in the chips and created a really cool effect on the border of the floor.

Does ANYONE have any idea what the name of the show was, or what this treatment is??

I realize this is a long shot, hopefully someone can help me out!

Thanks!

Wow. That is a strange question. After diligently searching HGTV and DIY TV and every Google combination, I can find nothing online . . . so you’ll have to wait for someone who actually saw the show.

But I do know that rock salt creates beautiful patterns in ink and dye if it scattered over the surface while still wet and allowed to dry, so perhaps it was the effect of the salt, not the oils? Just an idea.

    Good luck.

I searched too and have no idea…

I know that there is a product that is mostly used is garages and you paint the floor then sprinkle “chip” like things over the paint and it gives an effect to the garage floor.

Maybe they used this in the kitchen?

I think that having food in the floor paint sounds like a scary idea!!
