How much should I expect to pay someone to paint the exterior of my house?

Olu asked:

I am planning to paint the exterior of my house and I am seeking advise. I have specific questions, which I hope can help
(1) How much should I expect to pay to paint the exterior of a 2 story building (2500 SQ) home
(2) Should I ask the painter to purchase the paid himself/herself or should I buy it myself? (I imagine some of them may have access to wholesale pricing; on the other hand, I cannot vouch for the quality of the product the buy)
(3) Since this is summer and everyone tends to do a lot of home improvement, will it be cheaper to do the painting job later in the year (fall, say).
BTW: I live in Atlanta GA. (we often have extended weather than many northern states :-) )
Thanks

Well…I estimate hundreds of painting jobs a week. I charge $1.50 per square foot.I measure the length and multiply it by the height to get the total footage.Second…I only charge my customers the amount I pay for the paint. Third…I ALWAYS bring swatches of colors , paint samples, and my preferred brand to my customers.I estimate cheaper because I would rather have customers repeat business with me and become friends, than cheat them and lose their trust, not to mention word-of -mouth travels pretty fast!

    1) several years ago I paid $17 an hour House is about 2000sq feet the total labor was around $2,600 they were here for a little over 7 total days . a crew of 3

    2) I live in a smaller town so I opened an charge account at the local hardware store so the painters could get it as they needed it. Saved my the middle man cost I think.
    3) The painters I used were school teachers off for summer break. They did a great job. they ever re glazed windows that needed it before repainting they scraped primed and a top coat. and they brushed it on. no spraying . I was very pleased.
