briardan asked:
What courses would I study in college to have a company that builds home or remodels existing homes?

Best bet is to apprentice for a local contractor. You could use the experience, and they could use the free help. Look em up in the phone book.

I am sorry but college won’t teach you how to build homes. You may learn the money side of it, but anything else you are going to have to get your hands dirty to learn. I am a construction estimator / project manager and just about everything I have learned has been done in the Field, getting my hands dirty. I receive plans from architects who came from college and have never worked in the Field. Their ignorance is mind blowing, they just draw a picture and think they have done everything. Then it gets to me and I can clearly see that it will not work. Then I have to tell them how to do their job, when I am not the one that went to college to be an architect.
After you take your business classes, go out and get a job, as a carpenter. Without the common sense side of construction, you will never be successful and your employees will make fun of your construction ignorance.
